CASA VINYASA ASHTANGA YOGA SHALA in LISBON, PORTUGAL
Casa Vinyasa was born with humble beginnings, offering classes inside a cozy home. Being able to share this traditional and powerful practice, carried from India here to Portugal, has been an ever flowing gift for us.
The process of guiding each student through their first experience with Ashtanga and watching them develop strength and health is like nothing else in this world. This practice empowers all that come to it, like a glowing catalyst for whatever your path may be.
We have people from around the world, from all ages and all backgrounds, studying with us at Casa Vinyasa including business professionals, artists, athletes, surfers, mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters all discovering a newfound power within themselves through the traditional Ashtanga Yoga practice.
Over the years the school has grown and in 2011, inaugurated by Eddie Stern, Casa Vinyasa entered a new and larger home, more capable to serve the community. The school does all it can to keep the home-style feel and to be a small retreat from the city for yoga and health.
Casa Vinyasa is located in the heart of Lisbon, Portugal. Founded in 2003, Casa Vinyasa was the first place in Portugal fully dedicated to offering daily traditional Ashtanga Yoga as taught by Shri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India.
Located on the 5th floor of 16, Avenida Sidonio Pais, across from Parque Eduardo XVII, with a view of the river, Casa Vinyasa is an open space for anyone to visit.
We are in full gratitude to our Guru Shri K. Pattabhi Jois (Guruji, 1915-2009) and the teachings carried forth by his son Manju Jois, his daughter R. Saraswathi, and grandson R. Sharath Jois for their tireless commitment to sharing this beautiful practice with us.
We host a variety of Workshops for yoga, nutrition, health and well-being at Casa Vinyasa each year. We also provide Custom Ashtanga Workshops for organizations or groups, tailored to meet your goals. You can see more details about upcoming workshops on the Event page and at facebook.com/casavinyasalisbon. For more information about custom workshops please contact us at email@example.com

Isa Guitana has been studying and teaching Ashtanga for more than 15 years and was the first Portuguese to be Authorized by the Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India.
When she tried Ashtanga it was love at first practice. She knew this system would challenge her, open her heart and bring her new levels of growth for a lifetime - an insight that has been continuously renewed.
She made her first trip to Mysore, India in 2002 to practice with Guruji, Shri K Pattabhi Jois. Like so many others, Isa was overwhelmed by the love and power Guruji transmitted to the world and his students. Over the next six years Isa returned to study with Guruji for several months each year. She continues to travel to India to study at the Shri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute with Guruji’s grandson R. Sharath Jois.
Isa has devoted her life to learning and sharing all that this practice has to offer in the best way she can. She brings her playful heart and strong dedication to her students. As a teacher, Isa seeks to inspire each student to discover his or her full potential from within.
The practice is the true teacher and Isa plays her role as a supporting presence and guide to help each student deepen their personal relationship with themself through the practice.
In addition to teaching Ashtanga, Isa has followed her passion to sing and use her voice as a tool for transformation through the study of traditional Indian Bhajans, chanting of the Yoga Sutras, and guided Yoga Nidra Meditation.
Isa spends most of her time in Lisbon, Portugal with her family and teaching at her school, Casa Vinyasa. Over the years Isa has also taught throughout Portugal and across the world as a visiting teacher in Malaysia, Singapore, Bali, Brazil, and the United States.
